Huawei Ascend D Quad Core Android Phone Specs, Hands-on: MWC 2012

The Mobile World Congress was known for the big brands to bring out stuff that people would expect. But one of the unexpected ones, by Huawei. They have come up with the Huawei Ascend D mobile phone, with the K3V2 quad-core processor which they have claimed to build by themselves, and this device is being called the fastest smartphone till date.
The processor of the Ascend D is clocked at 1.5GHz, and the screen size is at 4.5-inch and it has a video output quality of 720p. Apart from the internal specs, the Ascend D is going to be pretty thin, at 8.9mm thickness. One would get the feeling of having LG Optimus black in hands, except the larger size as the design looks almost the same. The phone has got an 1800 mAh battery and this is going to have around 1-2 days of life with the normal usage, while the other high-end smartphones deliver around half a day for the same usage.

There is an 8MP camera on the rear side with the capacity to shoot 1080p videos, and the front camera is of 1.3MP quality for the video chat. The Ascend D is going to come with the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound for the better sound output, and along with that the enhancement in the noise cancellation is done using the earSmart technology.
Along with the Ascend D, it was Ascend D quad XL and the Ascend D1 also launched. Battery is the major difference between the three phones, and here are the capacities:
  • Huawei Ascend D: 1800 mAh battery
  • Ascend D quad XL: 2500 mAh battery
  • Ascend D1: 1670 mAh battery
The Ascend D is said to be the fastest smartphone in the world, with the 1.5GHz quad-core processor going to provide almost double the performance. And as to what the press release says, the entire D Quad series of Huawei phones are going to be available in the China, Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and South America, and the Middle East at the time around the second quarter of 2012. The Ascend D1, which has a little low specs than the other two, would be available in April 2012.
It is not just Huawei, but other brands too which would boast the quad-core processor in their phones. LG is coming with one, and the HTC One X is another one to have such high-end processor.
