Android App for Senior People : Get Large Phone Dialer Buttons & SMS Wizard

Phonotto appEvery smart phone user would have a desire to own a phone that holds an edge over the others, through the various features, camera, screen size and many other things. And with the change in generations, the mobile phones are not just the same and the companies too are trying to bring in more and more advanced features for the users to take advantage of. At the same time, one age group that is being ignored by the smart phone builders is the senior age people, who would find it a hassle to use these kind of phones.
Just because one wouldn’t be able to understand the functioning of these high-end phones, they can’t avoid using the phones, but would want to have those traditional devices which were the best at one time, or something very simple to use in the current league of phones. We have seen a few such phones, such as the iBall Aasaan senior phone which has the large keys and a simple screen so that the users don’t have any difficulty to use, but when you already have a smartphone in hands, why would you want to have another one looking out for options?
For the same senior age group of people, there is an application called the Phonotto, which is even called the Simple Phone Seniors Phonotto, which does the same job which the simple call-and-sms phones do. We won’t go into the case study on who could get the best use of this app, but it certainly has its own best features and simplicity that would be liked by many.
Phonotto App Home Phonotto Address Book
The home page of the Phonotto app has the Time in Digital mode, Call, Missed Calls, Address Book, Send and Read SMS buttons all arranged in the form of the tiles that are seen in a Windows Phone mobile. These would take you to the inner pages and sections, which are similarly easier to use.
One of the good features of this app is that it would make the phone into a simpler one right from the startup, as the app has got an option of staying in the background when you don’t want to use it but it would automatically start if you wish it to.
Phonotto SMS inbox Phonotto Send SMS
The SMS inbox has got nothing else than the SMSes listed one below the other, and you don’t need to search for the options, as there is a large Reply button located at the bottom of the SMS which would directly take you to the SMS typing page where you need to enter the text and hit Send.
The preferences has got the option of toggling this app on / off at the phone startup. There is nothing else that would be hidden in the settings area, so that is again an advantage for the users who want to have the maximum simplicity.
The easiest way to exit the Phonotto app and bring the general Android interface is hitting the home button which would hide this app page and this could be opened again from the apps list or from the notification panel.
Phonotto Phone App Phonotto Missed Calls
Not everyone would be a fan of the vibrant screens, the high volume whistling ringtones and many would find it even harder to just make the calls or send SMS from the complicated interfaces of the latest Android devices, and this would especially be a difficulty for the seniors. This app is specially made for them. We won’t be calling those users as stupid, who have got a high-end smartphone bit don’t like to use the interface, because many a times phones are gifted and they never ask for it.
The future versions of the app would even have the easier gallery for browsing through the photos and capture pictures using the camera in an easier way. Download the Phonotto app for Android from the Google Play Store here.

Kobian iXA Tablet Launched in India – Price Specs & Features

Kobian, the company which is quite popular and known in the field of computer peripherals and the small hand-held devices, has launched a tablet device with the price being one of the most competitive ones and well affordable by all class of users, targeting the students with the price of Rs. 3999. With such a price, the iXA Tab of Kobian would prove a direct challenge to the Aakash tablet from Datawind.
Micromax came in with a great device, the Micromax Funbook, but now the iXA tablet would be another good entry with the specifications being pretty noticeable and the 1GHz processor but what would still make the users a bit disappointed is the screen, which is the resistive touchscreen, and this when compared to the newer version of the Ubislate and Micromax would be a slight disadvantage because the two competitors have got a capacitive touchscreen.
Kobian iXA Tab
The inflow of new low-cost Android tablets in the Indian market has been on the rise, but there has not been any such tablet device which can be called the best, each of them having some or the other lack of features. In this case, the resistive touchscreen and the limited connectivity options would not go unnoticed.
Here are the specifications of the Kobian iXA Tab:
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system
  • 1GHz processor
  • 341gm weight
  • Resistive touchscreen, size probably 7-inch
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • Storage expandable to 32GB with a MicroSD card
  • 0.3MP camera
  • Connectivity via Wi-Fi
The company says that the booking for the iXA tablet starts from May 23rd, 2012 and the price is going to be Rs. 3999. The basic Android interface and applications like the Email, Music Player, E-book reader would all be present and you could download any extra applications from the market, although this is not yet confirmed.
The iXA Tab allows the video and audio playing of various formats, and this includes avi, mp4, mov, 3GP apart from a few others, and the audio support includes mp3, wav, wma, aac etc. The tab has got a camera which although is of low quality, would serve some purpose like the video chatting using the programs like Skype and sometimes would help in capturing pictures. This is an advantage over many other tablet devices which do not possess a camera at all.
The launch of the Tab with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS does make people raise questions about the latest OS not being brought into it, but when you get something from a version that is quite stable and would serve the needed purpose, giving an extra load with the latest OS and needing higher internal specs would be of no use. And of course, just like any other company Kobian might have got plans for future where they might be coming in with a tablet with the latest OS and better specs, for a higher price.
The iXA Tab is quite thin and would be comfortable to hold, with the low weight of 341 gm, and it is going to come with additional accessories for people who get an option of purchasing them too, and one of the accessories include the case with the external keyboard.
Whether Kobian tried to bring in something with a better functionality or just concentrated on the pricing just like the other brands do, would be found only after the tablet is in hands and we get an experience of it. The latest trend of launching the tablet devices with the pricing as the only factor in mind, the users aren’t finding it really necessary to buy these because of the lack of actual functionality.
