How to Root Galaxy S2 I9100 on Official Indian ICS 4.0.3 Firmware



Have you updated your Samsung GALAXY S2 GT I9100 smartphone with the latest Indian ICS Android 4.0.3Firmware and now want to root the same? Then in the due course of this article we will be checking out on how you can root your Galaxy S2 just by following the simple instructions which are mentioned in this article. Please note that we have also mentioned the mandatory pre requisites which you need to follow so as to ensure that the rooting process gets successfully completed.
Please be informed that once you root the device, the warranty will get void and the only way with which you can reclaim the lost warranty is by applying the Official firmware again by following the corresponding instructions. Before proceeding, you need to check whether your phone is on XXLPQ 4.0.3 Firmware or not from the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where it should show the current firmware is XXLPQ Android 4.0.3 firmware. If there is any other version being shown then you need to update with the XXLPQ Firmware.

Pre Requisites:
  • All the data present in your phone should be backed up as in the process of applying this update, the data might get either lost or corrupted. With the help of below mentioned steps you can easily backup the same. After updating with this release, your PC Suite will no longer support the device as it’s in the custom ROM firmware.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
  • Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
Enable the USB Debugging in your SAMSUNG Galaxy S2 GT I9100 from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked.   


Procedure to Root Samsung Galaxy S2 on Official Indian ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware:
  • Download the ICS Rooting Package for Indian S2 from here to your computer and extract the same to the desktop and then from the extracted files, you need to open the Odin in your computer.

  • Turn Off your phone to get your device in the Download mode. Download mode can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which a green robot will be shown indicating the Download Mode has been entered.
  • As soon as you connect the phone to the computer, you will see that the ID : COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed to the next step for selecting the files.

Note: if the ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,
  • Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
  • Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
  • Click on “PDA” and select “CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5”. Once you select the file, you need to click on “Start” for starting the process of rooting. As soon as the rooting process is done, the phone will be restarted. Once you see the home screen, disconnect the phone from the computer and turn Off so as to enter the phone in the recovery mode.

  • To enter into the recovery mode, you need to turn Off your device so that you can enter your device in the recovery mode. Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Up Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
Tip: Due to some reasons if the update process gets failed or interrupted, then you need to apply the update again by following the steps again from the start. Don’t forget to restore the backup which you have taken in the initial steps.
