It was expected that the sponsor ZTE and Huawei stalls to be big during this Mobile World Congress. We spotted a numerous handset at ZTE booth and Huawei showcased the powerful handset that it has produced. No one didn’t expect that Alcatel will come hard this Mobile World Congress. Interestingly they had more than a dozen smartphones displayed at their booth. We did go through review of OneTouch Smart 916, Mix 918 and 908f which is Facebook dedicated smartphone. Here in this context we go through hands-on OneTouch 991 Play smartphone which was announced from the house of Alcatel in OneTouch smartphone series.
Alcatel OneTouch 991 Play
OneTouch 991 Play is another dual SIM Android powered smartphone announced by Alcatel during the Mobile World Congress 2012. It supports two GSM + GSM network at once and it has 4 inches HVGA display screen along with 800 Mhz processor. The phone is with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and its highly unlikely that it will receive an Android 4.0 update. Alcatel didn’t particularly stress on this point and we are sure that it will not receive the Android 4.0 as the processor is very low at 800 Mhz.
The phone comes with 4 inches HVGA display screen and it includes 3 mega pixel camera on the rear side to take photos at decent quality and I guess it would be hard to get video at HD quality. Not just rear camera, it does have front facing VGA camera which can be used for video chat and video calls. The phone comes with Wi Fi internet access along with the 3D data plans that users can choose independent of the SIM Card that they choose. Since this phone is loaded with Android operating system, it comes with various predefined Google free services like Google Maps, Google Mail, Google Picasa, Google YouTube, Orkut, Google Buzz and Android Market to install various widgets, applications and softwares for free or paid which can be used.
