OneTouch Ultra 995 as announced by Alcatel is the competitor of Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone with a 4.3 inches WVGA display screen capacitive in nature. Though Galaxy S II is with Super AMOLED display by Samsung but WVGA display in Ultra 995 is quite efficient enough. Going through the handset, it’s very thin measuring the thickness at 9.75 mm and its comes with a powerful 1.4 Ghz dual core processor. Certainly this is a high end smartphone announced by Alcatel during the Mobile World Congress 2012 event held at Barcelona, Spain.
Coming to the camera it has 5 mega pixel camera on the rear side which can be used to take photos, photos under low light conditions comes good with the addition of flash light and can record 720p HD videos easily. Also along with that on the front side you can also spot the front facing VGA camera which is required for video chat and video calls, a part of 3G and 4G features. As of now the Android version included in this mobile phone is the Android 2.3 Gingerbread but Alcatel has promised that they will upgraded all the phone which have hardware to run the Android Ice Cream Sandwich smoothly will be upgraded via FOTA update. They didn’t comment on the exact date of availability but we are assuming that it will come in the Quarter 2 this year. Since this phone is loaded with Android operating system, it comes with various predefined Google free services like Google Maps, Google Mail, Google Picasa, Google YouTube, Orkut, Google Buzz and Android Market to install various widgets, applications and softwares for free or paid which can be used.
