So yesterday we were introduced to the first 3D Pokemon game for the 3DS, Pokemon X and Y. We got a trailer showing off a few shots of gameplay and within that was a quick sneaky peek at the new Legendary Pokemon.

Well we have some news for you, Nintendo let slip today that these legendary beasts will be called Yveltal and Xerneas. If your having trouble with trying to pronounce these names then fear not Ninty are on hand to provide you with the phonetic spelling. Yveltal is pronounced ee-VELL-tawl and Xerneas is pronounced ZURR-nee-us.

We may have covered a lot of gadget based news from CES but that doesn't mean we still don't love our games. Thankfully Nintendo finally announced the one bit of news Pokemon fans have been
waiting for.

A fully 3D adventure designed specifically for the Nintendo 3DS called Pokemon X and Y. Yup let that sink in.

Nintendo put on their now regular Nintendo Direct streams and had the Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata tell us the history of the Pokemon franchise. Compelling stuff but it took only 10 minutes before we were shown our first glimpse of the new Pokemon X and Y. You can find the trailer below.


Of course we have the obligatory new starter Pokemon known as Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie but we were also teased with the new legendary Pokemon creatures.

Pokemon X and Y will be hitting Japan, America, Europe and Australia October 2013.

Thats right ladies and gentleman, Nintendo have finally unleashed to us the launch of the Wii U around the world. First up it's the US fanboys getting their mitts on it on the 18th of November, then us lucky Euro folk get it the 30th of November followed by the Japanese who have to wait until the 8th of December.

Two distinct packages were revealed, the white system is classed as the basic package and comes bundled with two AC adaptors and a GamePad. It lacks any sensor bar and comes with all of 8GB of storage. 

The Premium pack is the black system and gets the sensor bar and GamePad but has a storage bump up to 32GB, it will also come with a stand for the console and GamePad. Both packs come with a HDMI cable.

A couple of extras were announced for the premium package, first up was the inclusion of Nintendo Land and also a new service called Nintendo Network Premium. this gives you points back from your purchases which you can then use against future purchases once you reach 500 points.

One thing sadly missing is any Euro pricing. Nintendo felt to leave it to the retailers to set the price, which left a few scratching their heads. This set a flurry of prices being thrown around the internet, I saw prices start at £199 but slowly and surely the price has been making its way upwards to £250 for the Basic package. I'll compile a full list of prices once they have stabilised.

In today’s European Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo has announced that their latest home console, Wii U, will launch across Europe from 30th November. Wii U is an HD console that offers more choice and variety of gameplay than ever before, with brand new gaming experiences enabled by the innovative Wii U GamePad controller, whether playing alone or together with friends. The Wii U GamePad offers an integrated second screen and can also be used independently of the TV set with certain software.Two launch hardware packs were announced along with the strongest line-up of launch software in Nintendo history. These include third-party heavy hitters such as FIFA 13 from Electronic Arts and Activision’s Call Of Duty®: Black Ops II, Ubisoft’s ZombiU™ and RAYMAN® LEGENDS as well as in-house titles like Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U. The Nintendo Direct presentation also revealed previously unannounced upcoming software titles exclusive to Wii U, such as Capcom’s Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate and BAYONETTA 2, developed byPlatinum Games and published by Nintendo.The Wii U Basic Pack features a Wii U console with 8GB internal storage and a Wii U GamePad, both in white. The Wii U Premium Pack contains a black Wii U console and Wii U GamePad, and with 32GB of internal storage provides more space for downloadable digital content. The Premium Pack also contains a stand for the GamePad and console, a charging cradle for the GamePad, a sensor bar and the Nintendo Land software. Nintendo also lifted the lid on two games being created by Platinum Games. The previously unannounced title BAYONETTA 2 and The Wonderful 101 are both exclusive to Wii U and will be produced by Atsushi Inaba. Known as Project P-100 at E3 and directed by Hideki Kamiya, The Wonderful 101 sees players combine the might of various heroes to fight off an alien invasion, while BAYONETTA 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed BAYONETTA™ and will be directed by Yusuke Hashimoto.Capcom’s Ryozo Tsujimoto revealed that Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate will be released for Wii U as well as Nintendo 3DS by March 2013. Fans can play the Wii U game with other players online, or connect to players of the Nintendo 3DS version of the game via a local wireless connection. It’s even possible to play at home on Wii U and continue the save file on the go with the Nintendo 3DS version of the game.Among the wealth of new game footage on display, a humorous new video of the upcoming LEGO® City: Undercover from TT Games was shown: another exclusive Wii U title that lets players assume the role of undercover cop Chase McCain in an open world packed with missions to complete. This morning Nintendo gave us another reason why we should be looking forward to the next episodes of Pokemon Black and White on the DS.

If you purchase either Pokemon Black or White 2 within its first month of launch then you can get your hands on the new mythical Pokemon called Gensect. Don't just take my word for it, read the press release below.

11th September 2012 – The release of the Pokémon Black Version 2  and Pokémon White Version 2 games for Nintendo DS is quickly approaching, and Nintendo is giving fans yet another reason to be excited for their 12th October 2012 launch across the UK. Consumers who purchase either game will have the opportunity to receive the Mythical Pokémon Genesect via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for the first time ever through a free distribution for a limited time after launch. In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, players will return to the Unova region and embark on a new adventure set two years after the events of the  Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games. 

Genesect, the newly discovered Mythical Pokémon, has been restored from a 300 million year old fossil. Modified by Team Plasma, this Pokémon has a fearsome signature move called Techno Blast. Genesect is the only known Pokémon with this move. Genesect is a Bug and Steel-Type Pokémon with the ability to adjust its power levels based on the foe it’s battling.  This powerful Pokémon will be available from 12th October 2012 through to 12th November 2012. 

The Unova region of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 has undergone many changes, and new additions can be found in both Black City and White Forest. White Treehollow is found in the White Forest of Pokémon White Version 2, while Black Tower is now a part of the Black City found in Pokémon Black Version 2, and both locations offer advanced players challenging new obstacles to overcome. At both sites, players can do battle with high-level Pokémon to earn Exp. Points and items. The layouts of the White Treehollow and Black Tower are randomly generated, creating a unique experience that will challenge players to solve their maze-like construction and defeat the Trainers that stand in their way again and again.

Those naughty little children over at Amazon decided it was about time to unveil the Wii U box-art. So far they have only shown off two upcoming Ubisoft games.

Its still not entirely clear wether these are official or just a mock up from either Ubisoft or Amazon. Either way, lets hope we get more clarity from Nintendo soon.
